Leon has just spent a few days over at the impressive Spidi factory in Vicenza Italy. He was asked to attend for the second year in a row, as after last year he impressed the Italian and English press alike by his knowledge and enthusiasm of the Spidi products
Last year he was there to talk about the rain suits, this year the new XP7-R boots where on the agenda. Leon was asked to test them by the top designers along with other top riders Marco Melandri, Max Neukirchner and Mattia Pasini. Spidi take the riders feedback very seriously as there is a direct link from the racing side to the road side.
The new XP7-R is not only lighter and more agile but has built in ankle guards to make the protection ten times better. Leon prefers them as they offer him more protection and comfort when racing and they are also narrower so he does not where the toe sliders away so quickly.
The new range of Spidi leathers, back and chest protectors, boots, gloves and new life style will be available soon from all Spidi stockists. The new lifestyle range is awesome, its really retro and stylish.
The Launch itself was a great success; they went in to much technical detail of their products, including the rigorous tests the back and chest protectors and body armour go though and the process the race leathers go through to be made for the riders.
Leon Said; " I never knew there where over 140 panels that go into one set of race leathers, I thought I knew most things about them, but never having gone through the technical side of it I was very unaware. It was a real insight on how they are made, even down to the badges, I didn't even know there were around 40 sponsors' badges on one set, and I have been wearing them since I was 8 years old. I have recently started to wear a chest protector also and now I know how they are made and the tests they go through it makes me feel even better, saying that you don't even know you are wearing it as they fit so well."
