BMW's Leon Haslam qualified in a provisional fifth place, on row two of the grid, for Sunday's 13th and penultimate round of the World Superbike Championship at Portimao in Portugal.

“I am pretty confident," said Haslam. "We just have a few issues which we still need to resolve. We have to make some more improvements to the chassis and work on the electronics.
"The track is a little bit dusty and dirty and has not got that much grip but I am quite happy. We are pretty confident on the harder tyres and we just need to improve with the soft tyres.
"My shoulder is still a bit painful but we are working on different strappings each session and it is 10 times better than in Germany so I am happy.”
