My whole life is about motorbikes. Ever since I was six weeks old I travelled the world with my parents as my dad was racing in GP's at the time.
Still, now my whole life is revolved around motorbikes. Saying that, I do passionately support and follow other sports. I studied Sports Science at college so every aspect of sport I find interesting.
My mum Ann an I are both Manchester United fans and have been to many games in the past, when we can fit in games around racing. I would like to go to but as you can imagine my racing keeps me very busy.
I also play a fair amount of golf, I normally get 2 or 3 games in a week. I'm a member at Breadsall Priory which is a fantastic place. They have two courses so you can play there all year round, If I'm not playing there then I play round the country for charity's like Sparks and Wooden Spoon.
Once a year a few of us go over to the Isle Of Man and do a Wooden Spoon Charity event. It's such a great event. Norman Wisdom is always there, He's such a legend and so funny. A few other riders also come over too like Colin Edwards and Karl Harris so it's a great social event too.
During race season I play on the Thursday before every round, normally with Karl Harris. I like to take lots of money off him usually,(sorry Karl). It's really a great chill out for both of us.
When I'm at home me and some friends of mine play in a poker league once a week, or we play snooker or pool. There is a great snooker hall near us which is handy.
I spend a lot of time at the gym with my trainer Kirk. Off season we train twice a day and during the season we only train once a day between races. When I'm at the track I either run or push bike around the circuits. I also have a Pinerello racer which I do a few miles a week on that, it keeps me very fit. I have to do 4 fitness tests throughout the year so I need to keep extremely fit. I'm a pretty active person so I don't find it that difficult.
I am probably the most competitive person I know apart from maybe my Dad Ron, and everything we do together whatever it is turns into a major competition. I like it that way though because it keeps me mentally strong.
My girlfriend Oli trains everyday with me. Kirk uses her to push me harder. Although she is not competitive in any shape of form she's very stubborn and will never give up, so when we're on the treadmill for example it pushes me to always be the last one running. The hardest time to train is a Monday after a race weekend. We normally don't get home till very late on a Sunday night and to get up at 7am on a Monday is tough. You're not only physically tired but also mentally tired. Oli's really good at getting me to the gym then, the rest of the week it's normally me dragging her out the bed. We also train with Tommy Searl, KTM motocrosser, Ovil who was British heavyweight Champion and Ricky Christolulu who drives for Renault in the Formula Ford Championship. It's always a great atmosphere at the gym.
Oli is a trained masseur which helps with my training, she also does all my nutrition so I eat lots of good healthy food. Although just as a bit of tradition I always have to have fajitas on the Thursday night before a race weekend. It's not particularly healthy but its all freshly cooked and tastes bloody good.
My main aim for the future is to obviously win the BSB Championship then either move to World Superbikes or MotoGp. My heart does lie in MotoGp because of my Dad's background there and I've had a few years experience there. Saying that World Superbikes is such a strong Championship now, so to win that would be fantastic. I guess before I retire from racing I would like to be a Champion in every class:
More than once...
Then I've been told by Oli that we've got to open an animal rescue centre. I guess we'll wait and see....
